The farewell dinner for all wartime Cheltenham YMCA helpers at the Royal Well Canteen was held in the same premises on June 19th 1946. There were 300 present but many absent for unavoidable reasons. The mesh on the windows showed it was now back in use as a YMCA gymnasium with the government having agreed to put in a new floor to replace the one irreparably damaged by the constant wear and tear caused by servicemen?s boots!
